Safari tents ready for you!

We are delighted to announce that we have now completed much needed additional accommodation in the form of spacious Safari tents, each with an en-suite bathroom and electricity supply.

Seven of the stylish, buff coloured 100% cotton canvas tents have been completed and another 4 are on the way. All the tents - which were purposely designed by ourselves - are located in prime positions overlooking the river and blend in beautifully with the lush, exotic atmosphere of the camp.

They each have two very comfortable single beds, a spacious bathroom with a shower, toilet and vanity unit. Electric lighting is provided along with an electric fan, not that the latter is ever really needed at night as the gauzed windows allow a wonderful cool breeze to permeate through. Best of all, the mosquitos don't stand a chance!

The tents provide an alternative to our existing accommodation which comprises 8 traditional-style round huts with en-suite shower & toilet facilities and a double and single bed. We also have 2 larger "family cottages" - each of these is split into two rooms with a shared bathroom.

In total we have 12 rooms plus the 11 Safari tents and can therefore accommodate up to 46 people.

Over the past three years, there has been a steady growth in the numbers of visitors to the camp. Many of our guests have been to The Gambia before and are now discovering the peaceful, natural beauty of up-river Gambia - a different world to the busy tourist resorts on the coast.

Others come here with a particular interest in mind. All lovers of nature, though especially birdwatchers, are delighted to find themselves right in the centre of the most wonderfully rich eco-system. For example, there are at least five different species of owls in and around the camp's grounds. Not to mention the hippopotamus downstream and the troops of wild baboons & monkeys.

Fresh-water fishing has really taken off over the past year thanks to fishing pioneer Mark Longster. Indeed, just last April one of his crew hooked an enormous Tiger fish which was just 3 lbs off the world record for this species.

It is encouraging to know that other people love this place as much as we do. Indeed, it is our hope that by providing ecologically sound development and job opportunities for local people - that depend directly upon the upkeep of this natural treasure - we will help to preserve it for future generations.

The new Safari tents will help satisfy this demand and are ideal for those seeking a genuine "Out of Africa" experience. We hope to meet you here soon!
